If you are going to rent a motorbike and tour around Koh Samui by motorbike, I have a plan for you. This plan is a rough idea based on one of the Koh Samui Day Trips organized by Sita Tour 2000, one of the many travel agencies in Koh Samui. Follow the routes, along the way you can find a handful of tourist attractions such as the Big Buddha, the Grandmother and Grandfather Rock, Namuang Waterfall, etc.
Cheap Holidays to Koh Samui
There are always pros and cons travel with or travel without a travel agency. Without a travel agent, you are on your own. At first you must establish a good travel plan. Planning a trip can be confusing and time consuming. You have to arrange the accommodation and transportation. You have to calculate currency ratio and decide the amount of money to use in travel. You have to obtain a good map and find the locations that are famous for sightseeing, etc. I have got a headache by just typing out all these. I was lucky in Koh Samui because my friends had planned everything for me. Thanks to them, I had very cheap holidays to Koh Samui. I have spent only about USD$ 250 (flights, meals, transportation, shopping, massage, etc.) for this 4 days 3 nights trip. Renting a motorbike and tour around the island is a good way to save money. Check out “How to rent a motorbike in Koh Samui | Koh Samui Scooter Rental” for the motorbike rental and the map of Koh Samui. Ride safely.

Koh Samui One Day Tour by Motorbike
We took lunch at Mambo Club (bar and restaurant) – Phad Thai, carrot Som Tam (they did not have green papaya), fried fish cakes and stir-fried glass noodles. There was a very handsome friendly Thai guy who looked like Nadech working there. Say hi to him on behalf of me if you are going there. FYI. Nadech is a Thai model and actor of Thai and Austrian descent and Mambo Club is located right on Chaweng Beach Road.
Next, dazzling white sand and blue surf-speckled ocean! We had only visited two famous tourist spots, the “Grandmother and Grandfather Rock (Hin Yai and Hin Ta)” and the “Namuang Waterfall” 2.
Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks shaped like female and male genitalia. A love story of a young man and woman ending their life together during a big storm and the symbol of their love turning the granite rocks into these shapes. These rocks are very popular to visit and the only one shaped like this in the world. There is a nice local market there selling lots of things, especially coconut products but are rather expensive.
Namuang Waterfall originates from the mountain in the heart of the island and falls from the cliff 30-40 metres high, 20 metres wide. Presently, the Royal Forest Department has classified it to be reserved forest park with an area of 10 rai. King Rama V and His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej used to visit the waterfall. You can enjoy swimming in the big water basin but with care about the rocks under the water since they may cause accidents. There is also elephant trekking service at the entrance.
At Namuang Waterfall, we parked our scooters near the entrance and headed out on foot to find the waterfall. However, we could not find a way as there were no guide and sign boards. We had no idea how to walk to the waterfall so we took the 4×4 Off Road service provided by the locals there, 100 Baht/person (return). It was just a 3-minute drive to a spot near the waterfall and from there we climbed for about 5 minutes through the jungle to the waterfall. There is a pathway that you can follow but a little care is needed in a few areas as the rocks are slick. It was a hot a very humid climb all the way to the top, and there were lots of tourists as you can see from the photo above. Remember to bring mosquito repellent. I do not like Namuang Waterfall. I think Cheonjiyeon Waterfall and Jeongbang Waterfall in Jeju Island are better places to visit. See Jeju Island Attractions.
Is tiger your favorite animal? For 300 Baht, you can have a photo with a Tiger somewhere near the Namuang waterfall entrance. The poor Tiger was chained to a platform and you could see it through a TV screen outside. It was extremely degrading for such a magnificent animal to be treated in this way and it upset me.
