Where to eat in Koh Samui: Ploy Samui Seafood Restaurant

A day was wasted because we arrived at Tango Beach Resort late. We took a rest and then we looked for the local one day trip for the next day. There were a few travel agencies around the resort and there were many at the town center. Tour packages include “Around the Island Tour (by minibus/boat)”, “Angthong National Marine Park Tour”, “One Day Trips by Speed Boat”, etc. Activities included snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, etc. The price ranged widely from 400 Baht to 2500 Baht per person. We dazed for a few minutes and we decided to go for the Angthong tour, 1300 Baht per person. The next important thing to do was to fill our stomach! Where and what to eat in Koh Samui?

Ploy Samui Seafood Restaurant – fresh, local, authentic Thai restaurant. It is a great local restaurant. Tom Yum Soup, Green Curry Chicken, Steamed Squid and Raw Prawn Salad are highly recommended – fresh, authentic and tasty. The staffs are very friendly and offer good service for tourists. The surroundings are pleasant but mosquito repellent is needed. The price is also reasonable (1080 Baht for 6 dishes, rice and drinks) and it is definitely worth a visit.

I do not have the address of Ploy Samui Seafood Restaurant (B). It is located somewhere around the Chaweng City Center. It is only a 10 minutes’ walk from Tango Beach Resort (A) – See the map above. After dinner, we walked around the town. Every Saturday night, there is an ice carving show in front of a bar. That night, the performer dressed casually and a cool upbeat music was being played. He then picked up his tools and started sculpting with electric chain saws (not very loud), chisels and sanders; while creating smoke, sparks, and lots of eye candy. The show normally runs 15 to 20 minutes.

We went back to the resort around 11 pm and the resort staff told us that our one day trip for the next day had been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. We postponed the trip to Monday. Since we did not have to wake up early, we bought some drinks and snacks at Seven Eleven and spent our night chatting, eating and drinking at the beautiful, clean and quiet beach. It was the most relaxing time for us, to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
