Yes! This is my last entry for my Bangkok trip. It has been four months since I came back from Bangkok. I am a terrible procrastinator. I stayed at On Nut for two months, I really like that place. Why? See below.

20 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport via expressway.

Tesco Lotus and Big C Supermarket

Tesco Lotus On Nut

First off there are Tesco Lotus and Big C Supermarket. Not only do they have a vast array of food and drink to stop you getting home sick, they also have an incredible food court upstairs where you can get fantastic value meals, catering for both western and traditional cuisines. All you need to do is buy a credit-type card from the cashier at the top of the dining area (THB 100 to 200 is ample) and hand it to the food stall that takes your fancy. They will swipe in the price of your meal and whatever credit you have left, take it back for a cash refund. Note opening hours are from 10.00 a.m. until 10.00 p.m. and you cannot use any cards the following day; they are only valid on the day of purchase.

Postcards

Avoid the hassle of a Bangkok post office and just use the private Mailbox Services etc shop found in Tesco Lotus near the food court, directly by the main door leading to On Nut BTS station. Open until 9.30 p.m. and the same price for posting cards home.

The Night Market

This is where the locals come to have some fun at night, whether to unwind after work with a few beers or perhaps to grab a traditional meal in familiar and comfortable surroundings. Central to most of the activity is the busy bar offering “towers” (three litres) of chilled beer to patrons with attractive and attentive waitress service as they serve in jugs and per glass and they have all the usual suspects; Singha, Chang, Tiger, Leo, Heineken and Federbrau. Buy a bucket of ice as the locals do, let the smiling ladies top you up and start by simply people watching. You will see happy folk enjoying life at a relaxed pace. And if you feeling hungry, just have a stroll around the outer area of the market on the pavement and see mouth-watering dishes being freshly prepared right in front of you.
