Where to stay in Seoul Korea

Where to stay in Seoul? Are you looking for places to stay in Seoul? Where is the best place to stay in Seoul? A most common question for every traveler is “where to stay” You will probably search the net for few hours or even few days to sort out the best location and price. For Seoul guesthouse or hostel, you need to make reservation as early as possible if you are going on peak seasons like Christmas, New Year or Summer holiday (For Korea, third week of July to second week of August) perhaps few months before your stay. I have been to Korea three times and I have stayed four different places – Bangrang Hostel, Sakuranbo GuesthouseHi Seoul Youth Hostel and Sejong Hotel Seoul. Below are some reviews about those places based on my own experiences.

Where to stay in Seoul

Where to stay in Seoul: Bangrang Hostel

Where to stay in Seoul Korea? How about Bangrang Hostel? Bangrang located near Subway Line 2 ChungJeongNo station; take exit 5 or 6, 2 minutes on foot. It is actually located near the Seoul station too, but you have to walk about 15 minutes. Owner is very friendly and he gave us lots of tips on travelling in Seoul. I stayed in Double Ensuite with a private bathroom for 11 days. It’s 55000 won per night and if you stay there for more than 10 nights, you get 1 night free. But the room doesn’t look as nice as photos shown on the web. Facilities are good and they provide free breakfast (bread, coffee, tea and milk). They have storage room for you to keep you heavy luggage too. – bangranghostel.com

Where to stay in Seoul: Sakuranbo Guesthouse

Where to stay in Seoul Korea? How about Guest house in Hongdae, Sakuranbo Guesthouse? Sakuranbo located near Subway Line 2 Hongik University station; take Exit 2, 6 minutes on foot. Almost 7 out of 10 travellers want to stay at Hongdae, one of the hottest places in Seoul that surrounded with fashion clothing stores, concept cafes, bars, restaurants and Korean street food all-in-one. The rate per night is 16000 won for 1 person regardless of room type. – sakuranboguesthouse.com

Where to stay in Seoul: Hi Seoul Youth Hostel

Where to stay in Seoul Korea? How about Hi Seoul Youth Hostel? I love Hi Seoul the most. Located near Subway Line 2 Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station; take exit 4, 8 minutes on foot. The room look exactly the same as on the website – cosy, comfortable and clean! Rates for Twin and Triple standard room are the same which is 66000 won per night including tax. However, the triple room rates will be increased to 88000 won per night from June. There is a famous bakery/cafe (Paris Baguette) at the Lobby Floor. – hiseoulyh.com

Where to stay in Seoul: Sejong Hotel Myeongdong

Where to stay in Seoul Korea? How about Sejong Hotel MyeongDong? You can shop till you drop in Myeongdong! I have stayed in Sejong hotel during my visit to Korea in February for few nights and it is located near Subway Line 4 Myeongdong station; take exit 10. There are many advantages of staying in a hotel if you can afford the money because you don’t have to worry about the cleanliness, the facilities, how to make reservation etc. No matter how bad a hotel is, it is still a hotel. You can either book through the hotel official website or through websites like Agoda or Booking to get a cheaper rate. Incheon Airport Limousine Bus stops at main door of Sejong Hotel. There is no free Wi-Fi in the room. I wish you luck in searching the right place to stay in Seoul. You are welcome to leave me a comment if you need any help.

How to choose the right Guesthouse or Hostel?

There are few things I will do when I search for guesthouse or hostel online because I believe that photos are used to cheat people, the place is not that nice in reality, so be smart! First of all, I will check the location of the hostel or guesthouse to see whether there is any subway station there and how far it is. This is very important because subway is the best means of transport for travellers. Second, check out the facilities provided. If you are going to stay there for weeks you may need laundry service. Other facilities include hair dryer, free internet and Wi-Fi, personal locker etc. Third, price is always an important issue. I will weigh out almost everything to see whether it is worthwhile to stay or not. Last, the room! I think this is funny but it works. Check out the type of television they used in the room before you make any decision. If they are using flat screen (modern type) means the room is quite new but if they are using the old style bulky television, a big “NO” is the answer. Bear in mind that what you see is not always what you get. They may give you a different type of room when you reach there.
