Sister and I celebrated the New Year at Blu Med Restaurant Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur. We were attracted by the design and the ambience of the restaurant. This two-storey restaurant, cool and modern environment on the lower floor and luxury on the upper floor, has generous seating areas both indoor and outdoor and casually chic whilst remaining cozy interior accented with white brick walls and woods. There is a unique floor-to-ceiling shelf of candles and bottles at the entrance.
Blu Med Restaurant Review
Blu Med offers a vast selection of both traditional and innovative dishes revealing Italian and Mediterranean influences but with an added touch of Japanese flavor courtesy of executive chef Tatsuya Ikeuchi. We had Set Lunch 1 Main Course (Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Mussel and Lettuce) and 1 Drink (Iced Lemon Tea) RM 18.90. Smoked Salmon Pizza with Salad, Mayonnaise and Capers (Tomato passata, Mozzarella, smoked salmon, mixed salad, capers and mayonnaise) RM 45 and Chocolate Cake (chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream) RM 14. All prices are subject to 10% service charhe and 6% government tax.
In my opinion, the set lunch iced lemon tea tasted like water. The spaghetti and chocolate cake was just average. The salmon on the pizza was fishy and the edge of the pizza crust was hard. The foods were quite disappointing in such a great setting. The regular menu prices are a little bit high too. Not a restaurant that I would recommend and return.
