Hong Kong Tour (Day 3): Avenue of Stars, Ladies Market, Temple Street

Travel to Hong Kong Day 3, we went to Avenue of Stars, Ladies Market and Temple Street. Same place but different road. Same place but different skies according to the days. Same place but different shadows according to the time. Same place but a different me. I have been to the Avenue Stars few years ago. I participated in CHANNEL [V] Super Junior contest‏ and won a trip to watch Super Junior Live in Hong Kong. That trip was my first overseas trip and it was really unforgettable.

Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert

Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert

If you have a travel guide, you would probably come across Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert restaurant. We went to one located near the Mong Kok Station. We had a Mango Platter HKD$45 (Glutinous Rice Balls in Mango Juice, Crystal Jelly with Mango Ice Cream, Mango Mochi 1 piece) and a Signature Combo Set HKD$56 (Sago with Pomelo and Mango, Mango Mochi 3 pieces).

A place that I would not recommend.  The desserts tasted not as good as what was described in the travel guide. Furthermore, the waiters were not friendly and there was an armpit hair in the dessert. Disgusting! The best Mango dessert I have had in my life was the one in Bangkok, read Mango Tango – Best Mango Desserts in Bangkok.

Where to buy cheap souvenirs in Hong Kong?

Ladies Market is the answer. However, you got to be smart. My mum wanted to buy some “I Love Hong Hong” T-shirts for my relatives. For Hong Kong souvenir T-shirts, the cheapest I found were 1 piece for HKD$18; 6 pieces for HKD$90. There are vendors selling 1 piece for HKD$20; 6 pieces for HKD$100; 4 pieces for HKD$100 etc. I got myself a Kessler Plastic Bag Sealer there.

Temple Street

Temple Street Hong Kong

How to get to Temple Street? Take MTR Kwun Tong Line and get off at Yau Ma Tei Station, Exit C. We took a Taxi from Ladies market to Temple Street, HKD$20. In contrast with the Ladies’ Market, the Temple Street night market is well known as Men’s Street as it is popular for men’s fashion. We went there for dinner. Temple Street is very famous for its snacks and roadside dining, which serves local street cuisine. There is a wide range of delicious local delicacies.

Hing Kee Restaurant

Hing Kee Restaurant Hong Kong Temple Street

We had Deep Fried Oysters Cake HKD$25, Spare Ribs with Rice Pot HKD$27, Chicken with Rice Pot HKD$27, Fried Vegetables HKD$25 (water convolvulus), etc. at Hing Kee Restaurant (more than 30 years at Temple Street). This roadside restaurant was strongly recommended by our AirBnB Hong Kong Host – Where to stay in Hong Kong | Airbnb 2 bedroom apartment at Temple Street – That meal was the best meal I have had in Hong Kong, cost us a total of HKD$238. All of these culinary delicacies represent Hong Kong’s traditional and unique food culture.

Café De Coral Fast Food Limited

Café De Coral Fast Food Limited

The restaurant offers breakfast during the morning, lunch during the noon hours, tea time meals during the afternoon and dinner during the night. Hong Kong people are always in hurry. Hong Fatt Restaurant

Hong Fatt Roasted Meat Restaurant

We had roasted pork, goose, and duck platter for HKD$200 at Hong Fatt Restaurant located at Kowloon Nathan Road No. 509A. Hong Fatt roasted meats were just average, nothing special. Roasted meats especially roasted goose are must-eat in Hong Kong. Try to look for a good roasted meat restaurant there.
