Finally, we reached Waterfront City Ferry Terminal safely after the 45 minutes ferry ride. We took the free shuttle from ferry terminal to hotel. It was only a 5-minute drive. One of the reasons we picked Holiday Inn Resort was because of the free shuttle. Taking taxi could be very dangerous. We were told that there were just a few metered taxis in Batam and the driver might not operate the meter. He might charge you more than you are supposed to pay.
Holiday Inn Resort Batam Review
After check-in, we were taken to a room on the fourth floor. The room was spacious and the pool-view balcony was beautiful but we were not satisfied with the location as the room was a bit far from the swimming pool. We requested if we could move to the ground floor. The staff was friendly and he relocated us immediately.
Holiday Inn Resort Batam had everything we need. There were a few restaurants (Chinese, Japanese and Thai), a Polo outlet and a small mart in the resort. Foods and beverages are quite costly at the hotel premises but still affordable though. We had lunch at the Dragon Inn Chinese restaurant. It is the best Cantonese Restaurant in Batam with a wide variety creative dishes and Dim Sum.
At night, we had dinner buffet in the hotel. SGD $48 per person. The candle lit ambience was very nice. It was beside the swimming pool with a singing band. A complimentary glass of red wine was served to each of us. Soft drinks and juices were free flowing. The dinner was really great and fit the tastes of all of us.
Overall, Holiday Inn Resort Batam was a nice place to stay in. However, the downtown was a little bit far from the resort. You have to get a taxi or take the free shuttle (30 minutes) to the shopping mall. For the room, everything was nice except the towel was not clean. I hope it would be improved in the future.
