Sweet Mixed Bean and Grain Dessert Recipe

A healthy blend of beans and grains. I’ve mixed four beans (black bean, green bean, soybean, red bean) and two grains (barley, brown rice) in this recipe; plenty for a family of four. Loaded with fiber and nutrients, this dessert can be served hot or cold. Incorporating beans and grains into your diet seems pretty simple.

Sweet Mixed Bean and Grain Dessert

Ingredients:

25g black bean
25g green bean
25g soybean
25g red bean
25g barley
25g brown rice
100g cane sugar

Method:

Wash all the ingredients (except cane sugar) and soak overnight in water. Next day, drain well and place them in a large pot along with 5 cups of water. Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours or until everything is cooked. Add more water if necessary and stir frequently to prevent the ingredients from sticking together. Then, add cane sugar and continue to cook for another 15 minutes. Let it sit for another 10 minutes or more. This will allow the ingredients to absorb the sugar. Serve it hot or you can leave it in the fridge for few hours and serve it cold.
