After a light breakfast, we were very bored but we did not want to spend too much money. So, what could we do? What is the most exciting way to explore Koh Samui Island? Rent a motorbike! Since Koh Samui is a fairly big island of natural beauty and charm, motorbikes are a great way to get around the island. The lush tropical gardens, the dazzling white sand and the gentle ocean breezes are unsurpassed. The ride will be memorable.

You can still rent and ride a motorbike in Koh Samui if you do not have motorbike license as long as you know how to ride a motorbike. It is pretty cool, right? Do not get me wrong, it is very dangerous riding a motorbike without a license. The responsibility lies on you. Rent it only if you hold the motorbike license in your home country. Koh Samui Scooter Rental

We rented three motorbikes from a motorbike rental shop near our hotel (within walking distance). The motorbike came with only a key, no helmets and the fuel tank was empty. You have to buy a bottle of gasoline (petrol) from the shop, 40 Baht per bottle and then ride the motorbike to a petrol station to fill up the tank. The shop has a number of motorbikes/scooters available for rent and the cheapest scooter costs only 150 Baht for the entire day. I rented the Yamaha Scoopy (200 Baht/day) because it was cute but I found it a bit hard to turn left and right on the road. The shop’s phone number was printed on the motorbikes; you might just call them if anything happens. Please be careful and do not ride it after drinking alcohol.

The lady had asked us to return the motorbikes personally the next day, at 9.00 am when the shop opened but we could not do so because we had to leave the hotel early in the morning at 7.30 am for the one day trip. Therefore, she had to hold one of our passports and then we could just leave the keys and motorbikes at the hotel. She would return the passport to the hotel staffs after she checked the motorbikes.
